Watercolor

All the artwork presented for sale by Ms. Cicchelli are watercolors themselves, but to her, this term has special significance. This medium, she says, is one that can admittedly be rather surprising. "The unpredictable interactions with light and weather are similar to those that happen with paint, and the results are often unexpected." This similarity flows onto the canvas, where, "The light is represented by the white paper and the water acts as a mixing agent," she explains. The artist has to be prepared for unplanned interactions between paint, paper, and water.

In this sense, the paintings below represent the relationship between water and nature, even between water and people. The spiritual connection felt between the artist and the great lakes brings a noticable fluidity to the medium. Here, the artist communnicates that while we cannot determine what either nature or paint and water will do one their own, the final product is breathtaking.
