Peace and War

Peace

I have never understood the dynamics that have made war inevitable through the ages. With this in mind, I wanted symbols of peace to be first and open up to include scenes from the wars occurring during and close to my lifetime and to reflect on the people that we have lost as a result of war.

Messages of Peace
Name me an emperor who was ever struck by a cannonball.
- Charles V
The first casualty when war comes is the truth. Hiram Johnson
The time not to become a father is eighteen years before a war.
- E. B. White
Peace can start with just one heart. - Holly Near
There was never a good war or a bad peace. - Ben Franklin

War

Peace is not healthy for generals and other killing things. War is not healthy for children and other living things. Lorraine Schneider. Wireless War-Push buttons make killing so much easier.

You can't say civilizations don't advance…for in every war they kill you in a new way. Will Rogers. A strong nation, like a strong person, can afford to be gentle, firm, thoughtful, and restrained. It can afford to extend a helping hand to others. It's a weak nation, like a weak person, that must behave with bluster and boasting and rashness and other signs of insecurity. Jimmy Carter

Wars are not "acts of God". They are caused by man, by man-made institutions, by the way in which man has organized his society. What man has made, man can change. Frederick Vinson

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Leviticus 19:18
